Meet Highlights This is the first time in years that Old Dominion has had an intersquad meet to begin the season.  The Men's and Women's teams were split into a very equally matched Blue and Gray teams.  Tommy showed a great deal of improvement in winning both boards on the men's side.  While Michelle Kenney asserted herself as the top Monarch woman diver by posting wins on both boards.  Erin, Jesse, and Adam showed some major improvements.  We are really looking forward to the new season!

Meet Highlights Michelle won her first two college meets in posting personal bests on both boards.  Tommy Dingus also posted best scores on his way to a first place finish on 3m and a second place finish on 1m.  Jesse Smith in only his second college diving meet ever improved his person best score on 1m.

This was exactly the start of the season we were looking for!  The divers really shined today!!

Erin Marks (prelims) 144.10 15th 270.00 16th
Meet Highlights We had had some really special accomplishments at the Maryland Invitational!  Jesse Smith completed his first ever championship 3-meter list.  Erin beat both of her scores from last years meet and went on to score a personal best on 3-meter.  Michelle made the finals on 1-meter on route to her personal best score of 198.50.  Tommy Dingus had a huge meet, he broke personal bests on both boards and made finals for the first time in a big meet.

The divers really are showing what they can do.  I am proud to be their coach!

Meet

Drexel & George Washington

Name 1 - Meter Place 3 - Meter Place
Tommy Dingus 190.20 5 204.15 5
Michelle Kenney 196.90 2 205.80 1
Erin Marks 142.30 5 165.40 4
Meet Highlights The pool was a little cold this weekend for diving, but we managed to have a great meet.  Michelle Kenney led the divers with a personal best on 3M (205.80) which was good enough for 1st place on 3M, she also had a strong showing on 1M finishing second.  Erin Marks scored her second best score on 3M (165.40) on route to a fourth place finish.  Tommy performed well finishing fifth on both boards while facing some very stiff competition.

Meet

James Madison

Name 1 - Meter Place 3 - Meter Place
Tommy Dingus 220.20 1 257.85 1
Jesse Smith 110.78 4 154.50 3
Michelle Kenney 208.80 2 196.58 2
Meet Highlights In many ways, this was the best meet of the season for the Old Dominion divers.  Tommy performed two new dives in competition and Jess performed three new dives.  Each of the divers improved their personal bests on at least one diving board.  However, Tommy stole the show with two personal bests and victories on both boards.  Michelle had a consistent performance on 1-meter in route to a new personal best of 208.80.  Jesse had a rough go on 1-meter but bounced back with a personal best on 3-meter of 154.50.

We are really looking forward to our big quad meet coming up against W&M, UNCW, and Davidson!

Meet

UNCW, W&M & Davidson

Name 1 - Meter Place 3 - Meter Place
Tommy Dingus 225.15 2 365.45 2
Jesse Smith 147.32 6 248.50 5
Michelle Kenney 203.90 1 375.20 2
Meet Highlights It was my opinion that last week (the meet against JMU) was the best meet of the season for our divers, however, our team outshined their previous effort with their performance this weekend.  Out of 6 chances to dive, we had 5 personal bests this weekend.  Tommy bettered his highs on both 1 meter and 3 meter in finishing second on both boards.  Jesse improved his 3 meter championship score by more than 80 points on 3 meter and increased his 1 meter best as well.  Michelle bested her top 3 meter score by over 40 points on her way to a second place finish on 3 meter.  She also won the 1 meter event and performed her first forward 2 1/2 in competition.

Michelle, Jesse, and Tommy have been working hard throughout the season.  Their efforts, time, and sacrifices have paid off in some fantastic performances this year.  I am very excited about our progress and know we are ready for our Conference meet in less than 1 month.

Meet

UMBC & Marist

Name 1 - Meter Place 3 - Meter Place
Tommy Dingus 203.30 2 159.70 4
Jesse Smith 142.55 6 145.35 6
Michelle Kenney 201.15 2 214.30 2
Meet Highlights The UMBC curse continues for the Old Dominion diving team.  Over the years, we have always had a little trouble finishing well at UMBC, this year was more of the same.  Tommy had a tough performance on 3-meter.  He did manage a good performance on 1-meter to finish 2nd.  Jesse had a decent performance on both boards (although I think he might have won the warm-ups).  Michelle was the bright spot......although placing second on both boards, her performance on 1-meter was very consistent and her 3-meter was a new personal best.

The Conference meet is just a couple of weeks away and we are psyched!

Jesse Smith 156.15 12 241.55 13
Michelle Kenney 205.95 10 155.15 17
Meet Highlights The CAA meet did not start exactly how we envisioned, however, the team did show a lot of  heart in finishing the meet with some good diving.  Tommy scored a personal best on 3M in the prelims in scoring 410.85.  Jesse posted a personal best on 1M, scoring 156.15.  Michelle had an excellent 1M performance just finishing below her personal best of 208.

I am looking forward to the 2003-2004 season.  We are hoping to add some new talent to our team next year, and improve upon this years' performances.
